I have been super busy working and making yarns. And playing pinball, lots and lots of pinball. So much pinball that my hands were in claw positions for about a week. I went to a pinball festival in mid November. OOOOO so much fun! And OOOOO so much pain!

But this lovely yarn makes me forget all my pain. It's soft and squishy and it makes me smile.

The blog has gone quiet (yet again). This has been a busy summer working and handing out with friends. I have been knitting socks and spinning up some pretty yarns.

** Nerd Alert**

Move over cowls and shawlettes, self striping socks are the new rage and I am a huge follower!

This cuff down sock I am knitting on US 1 needles is made out of Twisted Limone Designs yarn. She is over is in UK and dyes up some gorgeous yarn.

I am enamored by the stripes. I find myself thinking, "I am going going to knit to the end of this stripe then stop, but I keep knitting.

I am also giving the after-thought heel a try. I will be using the Knitgirllls tutorial for it. I have already knitted one after thought heel, and was kind of iffy whether I liked it or not (that is more an issue with the yarn I was using at the time).

For those that are not familiar with the after thought heel, here is a brief explanation.

As you are knitting your sock, regardless if it is cuff down or toe up, when you come to the point where you would start the process for your heel. you knit across half your stitches with waste yarn, then you go back to your working yarn and continue knitting the rest of your sock. When you go back to do the heel, you work a little magic and basically decrease like you would the toe of a sock.

My problem is that I can not wrap my head around is the placement of the waste yarn. Meh, no biggie, i will figure it out eventually. or have someone draw a line on my foot to tell me where it needs to go.

Now, go buy some yarn! (So I won't have to)

Afternoon all,

Long time no blog.

What have I been up to lately, lets see. Working a lot, it is springtime and that means lots do to! I had a birthday in March, it came and went without a lot of fanfare. Some drama, but what else is new.

I have been spinning a ton! I have new yarns getting ready to be added to my etsy shop over the next week and then more will be added probably at the end of May when things slow back down.

Snoopy says Howdy and Mo, Snoopy's cohort in crime is a father! His son, Rambo was born about 4 or 5 weeks ago and he opened his eyes last week. Rambo will be staying with his mom but hopefully we will be able to see him and get a few pictures.

In the great words of Porky Pig,

One of my finished objects. These are No Purl Monkey socks out of Yarn Pirate super-wash Merino in in Killer Bees colorway. I really liked how the pattern/color worked up. I tried many patterns and as always, I fall back to the No purl Monkey sock.

I am doing some stealth knitting, more details on that when I can talk about it and show it off.

I am ignoring lace right now. I attempted knitting more and that..... did not go well. Meh.

But at least I have a new pair of socks to add to the collection!

That I have been knitting lots of things. I have worked on some charity hats, lots of socks, and... wait for it., A Lace scarf that is finished! Hooray!

What is going on in my world:

Work is picking up, spring time is always busy.

I am spinning a lot, working through the fiber stash. It's so hard to decide what to spin next.

I have a ton of 2nd socks on the needles. I seem to finish a sock, and pick the the needles and cast on for a 2nd sock for a completely different pair. I like that I am working hard on finishing up these sad socks that need a mate.

Lastly, I am going to be adding some links to the blog of some video podcasts of the knitting variety I enjoy. If you have any, let me know, I would love to try some new ones.

I hope all of my friend's had a wonderful time ringing in the New Year! I spent New Year's Eve in St. Augustine watching fireworks up close in person for the first time in over 15 years. It was very pretty!

I was thinking of goals I would like to accomplish this year and thought I would share them with you.

I am going to do two self induced clubs, a Lace/Shawl club and a Sock club. I have picked the patterns for the Lace/Shawl club and this weekend I will pick yarn for it. I will also be selecting patterns and yarn for the Sock Club. When I remember the patterns I will share them along with the yarn.

What else is new with me, back at the gym. Meh.

I am counting down the minutes until the new Jacksonville Rollergirl season starts. I looooooooooooooooooooove me some Roller Derby. love love love love love love it. Did I mention I love it?

See you kids later this weekend with pictures and patterns. Me + Lace/shawls = a lot of hand holding, EEK!

Fair Results are in!

I entered 4 skeins of my hand-spun yarn and all won ribbons. I took home two First Place Blue Ribbons, one Red Second place and a yellow Honorable Mention.

I also entered a pair of handknit socks and they won a First Place Blue Ribbon!!! Hooray! More pictures to follow soon!

My recent finished object is the Garter-Ridge Scarf from the new 60 Quick Knits book all using Cascade 220 yarn. Snoopy, my cohort in crime was bribed with cookies so I could get some pictures.

This was knit longwise, it didn't take too long but I am not a monogamous knitter. It used two skeins of 220 and was great for tv knitting when I couldn't stand to knit on tiny sock needles.

On a personal note, I am a little under the weather (fighting stomach flu/ or possible food poisoning) so I am going to wish everyone a great weekend now!

ps. I am super proud of Jen, Shevon & Brenda for doing a sprint triathlon last weekend. I can't swim and never ever ask me to get onto a bike. Way to go ladies!!!!!

So after years of wanted to do it, I signed up for the Komen Race for the Cure and Ran/walked it this past Saturday.

It was very emotional for me. seeing so many people supporting people in their lives, themselves, and all of us participating in this event.

I thought of the people in my life who have fought this disease, my mother, Aunt Cheryl, Aunt Anita, Aunt Annie, my co-worker Linda, a family friend of 24 years+ Glenda. And my beloved Aunt Lisa who passed away fighting this disease.

Officially my time was 60 minutes and 56 seconds. However, the ever handsome Jacksonville Sheriff's Officers had stopped us so the 2K could start, we were almost done! I say my time was 56 minutes, according to my math skillz.

I look forward to running this next year, I did learn that I need to practice more incline/decline running.

This is my current favorite pastime. Knitting and Spinning and fun, but all week I look forward to the weekend and my date with the pinball machine. In a perfect world I own this one and about 10 others, and they would all be free to play.

I love the POP when you win a free game, the clicking of the flippers, the thrill of extra balls and on this machine Johnny Depp's voice. yum yum!!

Crown me Queen of the Dorks, but I love me some pinball.

Mo man is cute as ever. His personality really fits in with our family. He loves almost everyone and loves to gives hugs.

He is hard to photograph though. I was able to have him pose with a lot of teasing of treats.

Mo's likes: Chasing crickets, vanilla ice cream, Ruffles chips, kisses, belly rubs and chasing squirrels.

Mo's dislikes: a late dinner time, missing naps, turtles and toys out of his reach.

Currently he can sit when asked and we are working very hard on Shake. He only falls over a little bit now when we try Shake.

Blog update.

Knitting is, eh. My mojo seems to have left when the heat moved in.

I am currently up to 51 skeins of Jitterbug. 47 of these are different colors and 4 are repeats. The picture is from Mr.iPhone so the colors are off. I have been lucky enough to score some of the blue label skeins. There are 400 yards to those skeins. According to the Colinette web site there are 117 different colorways currently, so I have a ways to go still. The newest colors are hardest to score.But I have great friends on Ravelry who are making it easy for me to score them.

I have been spinning off and on, its hard to work my schedule to involve spinning, knitting, work and the gym along with my small social life. I know I can make it work, it's just balancing everything out.

Hey Folks,

Spring is a busy time for me, work wise so things have been more then a little quiet around here. I am still spinning and knitting lots of socks.

I also dabbled in some lace knitting. I made a shawlette, in the Multnomah pattern. (not sure if I spelled that correctly) I am in a scarf/shawl exchange and whileI probably shouldn't have joined it because spring time is horrid for me time wise, I have enjoyed being in it. The shawl is done and I need to get off my arse and send it out along with the rest of the goodies I have for my swapee.

SO my birthday was on Friday. And at the end of a long day I had this super cute birthday cake.

My day started off with dogs barking at each other through a door wanting to play. They do not seem to understand that on my side of the house, we sleep in on days off.

I went to get the tag for my truck renewed which was uneventful except for a woman who was in line, right in front of me. She was sporting a pair of Acid washed tapered leg jeans. I thought those were banned around 1995?

So as I was leaving the Tag place, I was sitting at the stop sign waiting for traffic to pass. I looked left. I looked right. I looked left and again and WHAM! My truck was hit. By a cop.

I am ok, and the truck is dinged up. The cop's car had the most damage. And OOOOOO buddy, he was easy on the eyes.

After waiting an eternity for the accident report to be written, I was on my way again and off to have lunch with my best friend. I hit a few antique stores and bought some yarn goodness.

I had dinner with the family and spent some quality time with people I love.

I will be sharing the ugliness of acid washed jeans in a day or so, so be sure to check back!

I am working hard on a secret shawl project. I can't say who or what its for, but it's knitting up super nicely.

What else is new? Springtime is here and that means long hours at work from well February till end of May.

I went hiking last Sunday at Ravine Gardens, a beautiful Florida State Park. There are over 93000 azalea plants there. Only about half were in bloom when I was there. The cooler weather this winter has slowed the blooming of my most favorite flower.

I am working on numerous projects besides the shawl. I finished a pair of socks last night, and am working hard to finish a pair for a friend, Carrie. Its only taken me a year to get it done.

Snoopy and Mo are getting along well still. Snoopy has taken to sitting in my room looking out into the hallway and barking when he wants Mo to come play with him. This happens about 3 times a week, at the oddest hours. Like this morning at 5am. It is so odd, because Snoopy is not like most beagles. He doesn't howl at all, and doesn't bark often.

That's all I have for today. I am hoping for some crazy posts next week, (after all my birthday is around the corner)

Snoopy and Mo have become friends and daily they have hour+ long wrestling matches. It looks like Snoops is going to bite off Mo's head or maybe MO is going to bite off Snoopy's nose.

Snoopy tries to be very gently with Mo since Snoopy is a bit bigger I think he knows he has to be. Now Mo, fights dirty. He will act like he is tired and will lay down. As soon as Snoopy lets his gaurd down, Mo jumps up ready to attack again. It's great fun watching them.

The blog has been silent the past weekish. My laptop has a virus and I have no interwebs to entrertain me at night while it is at the doctors. The doctor being one of my best friends Corrina's house. I am hoping for another miracle, one that involves the virus going ok and itunes is left intact.

Today's photo was taken the day I went to the Alpaca Expo with my friend Tricia. When we were walking to her truck to head home, the clouds were so pretty.

On the needles this week (that I can remember)

1. Baby sweater for a girl friend (I am trying to get two knitted by March 13) with matching booties

2. A self striping sock in Hot pink and black. It's dead sexy.

3. The second Embossed Leaves sock for my friend Carrie. It's only been a year that I have been knitting them.

4. A sweater for me that I think is too wide but I am too lazy to put it on waste yarn and try it on

5. A Self striped sock in yarn one of my favorite gal pal's dyed, I am on the foot and if I buckle down I can get it done this week.

6. Multnomah Shawl. I was knitting it at 2:45am the other morning and I fear something disasterous was done.... more on that later.

7.8. and 9. are more socks I cast on and put into project bags only to have the needles be ripped out in a month or so.

Of cute fibery animals! On Saturday my cohort in crime, Trishthedish aka Tricia and I went over to the Alpaca Expo. Alpacas from all over the country were in town being judged in all sorts of things. I just wanted photos and fiber.

Alpacas will spit if they get scared, but they can be sweet and even funny. Tricia and I watched one fellow run laps around his pen hopping over bales of hay and annoying his fellow pen dwellers.

Now, this guy was a total ham for the camera. He loved having his picture taken and I didn't mind taking them!

I brought home 16 ounces of Chocolate brown Adult Huacaya Alpaca Roving and once I free up some bobbins I will get to spinning it up!

Hi, my name is Kimber and I buy sock yarn.

I said it and I am not ashamed about it. Today, as part of the February - choose your own adventure with the Jax Ravelers group I co-run on Ravelry, I attempted to organize my sock yarn shelf in my yarn cabinet.

There is a lot of yarn that didn't make it on the shelf, mostly because I forgot about it sitting next to my computer.

Each yarn has a story and I won't bore you with what they all are. However if you were to pick one and ask I will tell you its story.

I do have a correction. In the previous blog about my Sockhead hat, the color is actually Man Blue not Denim like I said.

That's all I have today. I have lots of pictures of my trip to the Alpaca expo and a long story about that I will share another day.

I have a finished object! I actually finished it a week or so ago. This hat is called the Sockhead Hat, and can be downloaded for free via Ravelry. I used 1 full skein and 1/4 of another in the Shibuiknits Sock in the colorway of Denim by Shibuiknits. I really love this yarn, the colors are awesome and my stash is growing by leaps and bounds, I brought 4 skeins home on Saturday.

It is a cute hat, that is slouchy in the back and is warm but not in the way of : melts your make up off.

I have a secret project on the needles right now and surprisingly enough, it is moving fast enough on size 7's/

In puppy news, Mo and Snoopy wrestled last night for almost an hour. It was so darn cute! Snoopy was being super gentle and they were both having a great time. I took a few videos and if they turn out decent I will upload them to You Tube and will post one on the blog soon.

This weekend , west of Jacksonville is the Alpaca Expo. Alpacas from all over the country are judged and shall be oogled by my cohort in crime, Tricia and myself. If you are local, I hope to see you there! i will be taking lots of photos for my friends who live far away.

I tend to go out for dinner by myself about one every two weeks or so. I actually enjoy it sometimes I bring a good book or I just people watch.

After a full day at the yarn shop on Saturday I took myself out to eat at Sonny's BBQ. How I love Sonny's. You really can't go wrong there, unless you are a vegetarian. My standard meal is BBQ chicken (that’s 4 pieces) fries cornbread and Mac and cheese. I also thought I earned some fried squash as well which was ehh, nothing to write home about. However BBQ leftovers for breakfast are amazing!

Currently I am moderating a group for locals on Ravelry called; Jax Ravelers, and we are having a Knit A Long each month. This month we are not doing any knitting or crocheting, instead it is, Choose your own adventure! There is a list of things to do and you get to pick what you want to work on. If you are on Ravelry please check it out. You don't have to live here to join in the fun either!!

It just occured to me the title of todays entry and it might bear a little explaination. For some reason I coined this phrase that phrase and it seems to have stuck. It almost lightens the mood when I am seated except for the occasional hostess who has no sense of humor. Lonely Loser dinner for one does not bother me at all. So please no pity. I would rather be single then stuck with some dork who has an issue with personal alone time.

This picture I snapped with my iPhone when I was on my way to knit night or BBQ night, who knows. I love sunsets, it is my favorite time of day and I couldn't let this one get away from me

Today I worked at my local LYS which I just love. I get to help people and when I see that little spark pop in their eye when something clicks makes my day. Plus who wouldn't love to work with yarn ???

There is nothing new off or on the needles however I have some yarn getting ready to come off the bobbin on the wheel, Woodstock. Yes, my wheel is named Woodstock. I have a Snoopy so I needed a Woodstock.

I did want to give a movie review. I recently watched, bought and have watched several times since Thursday the movie is Whip It. It is a movie about a high schooler who joins a Roller Derby team. It not only has great music, a good story, its ROLLER DERBY, I think its great. Maybe a parent should watch it first though, there is a mild scene that is a little... well out there. It is rated 13 and I recommend giving it a try. Let me know what you think of it.

Today's photo is of a handspun yarn I did for a sweet gal over on Ravelry. This is called Diego Woodline from my “company” Palm Valley Fiber.

It was a lot of fun to spin with the colors constantly changing it is almost 300 yards of Merino Sliver. Oh and the picture was taken before I set the twist so that is why is it kinky in the upper left of the skein.

On the knitting front, I casted on for a sock called " A Roll in the Hay" It is a really beautiful sock from the book, Joy of Sox. Unfortunately I cannot wrap my around the pattern. It took me a good 30 minutes to complete a single row of 68 stitches. I put it in time out and the next night I yanked the stitches off the needles and cast of for a completely different sock in some Jitterbug. Because Jitterbug makes everything better.

So I now have about 5 socks on the needles (that I can think of) and am fighting the old urge of casting on for more.

The pups are getting along better each day which makes me very happy. Mo & Snoopy chase each other around the house every night, and they have worked up to laying next to each other on my couch for about a 4 minute time span.

It is finally late October and it was coolish for about 6 days. In honor of a temperature lower than 90 degrees I pulled out some hand knitted socks and my current favorite pair of Doc Marten's

The yarn is my first skein of Yarn Pirate in the colorway of Algae and the pattern is the Yarn Harlot's Basic vanilla sock pattern, my first go to pattern for socks. I love how the pooling is different in each sock.

I also want to wish my momma a Happy Birthday!

Today's blog is brought to you by Snoopy, or the fattiest Beagle ever. Snoopy has a tenancy to move and kick my pillows around my bed to they are where he wants to be. This pillow he moved in front of my window to where he laid his fat body down. When he stands up he doesn't look this fat I swear!

in my mind I blog everyday. Perhaps because I use so many social networking places I assume people just know what I am up to. My fault.

So my brother turned the big 31 this week. See the giant gun in a blue shirt? That's him.Next to him, dad is holding my bro's dog, Triumph a Min Pin that is full of piss (literally) and vinegar.

I have been knitting and spinning a lot. I am working on my Barn Raising Quilt and socks as always.

And of course, the search continues for the perfect cardigan pattern. it is out there, somewhere.

Where does the time go??

Summer seems to have flown by yet again. My real job and Palm Valley Fiber keeps me busy and I am constantly thinking of ideas and color combinations.

In knitting news off the needles:
Baby Blankey for a fellow Raveler. A baby sweater for a friend.

On the needles: Embossed Leaves socks for my friend Carrie, and the Swallowtail Shawl. Yes I said Shawl kids. I am breaking into lace territory. I have literally frogged it 8 times and am on my 4th yarn, I seem to have hit a decent stride ( knock on wood ).

Today's picture was taken at the local Costco. Sweet Baby Ray's is my favorite BBQ sauce and I put it on top of almost everything I eat. I do draw the line at ice cream however.

So it has been forever since I have blogged. I had been working insane hours in April and May and was finally able to get out of town for a mini long weekend.

I went to my first golf game, did a little knitting, visited a yarn store and had a great time away. I found out a few things on my trip. Sam Sneads is an amazing place to eat in Port St. Lucie. Some yarn stores still are pushing the novelty yarn. HELLO, it is 2009! Lose the eyelash please.

I have been dyeing and spinning stuff up for the store and I really enjoy that, it's neat seeing the color combinations.

On the knitting front, socks are back on the needles. They are my favorite thing to knit and I have to do something with all the yarn I am hording.

I am also trying to take more pictures these days. I would love to take a class on photography so I could learn how to better my skillz.... one day kids.

Snoopy and I entered Grits and Sticks Day and we won!! This contest was held by Kris of Sonny and Shear and Snoopy was a great helper in protecting the grits. I was able to take several photos before he started snacking on the grits.

What else has been going on?... Dad was in the hospital for about a week then we got him home. What did he have? An infection. They couldn't tell us waht kind or what caused it. So I will keep my rant about that to myself.

Then mom went in the hopsital last week. For those that don't know we work together. She was walking down some steps at work and fell. As she was falling she turned so she wouldnt land on her face and landed very hard on her right arm, breaking her elbow and another bone in her arm. She also hit her head very hard. I was across the room and heard her microphone snap off her shirt, I turned around and she was already on the floor. I got to her side and called for an ambulance, lucky for us the firestation is literally across the street.

it was scary but we got her taken care of.

So moms arm is in a sling and her head is healing up after getting staples out it.

With all that happening the past month has been very crazy.

Does anyone know where I can buy bubbles to put my family into?

Today is flash your stash day. I will not be able to take a current picture due to work and family obligations so I found the most recent stash picture. Here is 18.25 miles of sock yarn. It has gone up to 20 miles since then.

I can't say NO to sock yarn. So Sad.

Oh, this is only 1/3 of my entire yarn stash :)

Don't you love the sheet its on? Snoopy tried to snuggle down in the middle of all the fibery goodness and make a nest out of Lorna's Laces. Silly Puppers.

On a personal note, my dad is ill and is currently residing in a local hospital with hopefully pneumonia. It's either that or he needs a new heart valve. So we are hoping for Pneumonia. More as I know it.

My town remembered it is my birthday and the characters sent me cards and one even made me a cake! And they posted a message on the town message board!

Still Kicking

The blog has been silent for way too long.

I really think that Ravelry has become my new blog. I update projects and add friends and stalk friends pages.... I have also been out and about a lot in the past two months. I have gotten over the need to hide in the cell of my room and now I want to smell the sweet spring air and do fun things.

Earlier this month my dear friend Tricia and I went to an event called Guns and Hoses where local police officers box local firemen. Proceeds go to local charities and a good time is almost had by all.

The next day another friend of mine and I drove down to Palatka to visit the Ravine Garden State Park and then went over to the Azalea Festival. Palatka is a small town and one can clearly see how much they look forward to this time every year.

Off the needles are dads Christmas socks. It took over three months to get them finished, I had no idea he has size 13 EEE feet when I started them. He had better treasure them too!I would like to try and make the 2ND socks that I have avoided making for near a year. I have some Embossed leaves, Monkeys, and others needing a mate. Yet the urge to cast on something brand new and shiny is so, so strong.

What have I been up to lately?

Knit in Public Day was a wonderful success. We raised $320.00 for Hubbard House, a local Domestic Violence Shelter. Picnicknits aka Corrina and I delivered the money last week to them. I was so amazed at all they do for everyone who stays there. I was thrilled that we selected the right people to support.

That being said, if you are coming to the next Jax Ravelers get together on the 28, bring some canned food if you don't mind. All food Hubbard House receives comes from local donations and I think everyone has some green beans in their cupboard. Corrina and I are ready to make another trip over there with some goodies.

I have been spinning a lot. Seaglass is I think the best I have ever spun. It is a two ply sport weight. I took my time during the plying and it really shows. It came out to be 320 yarns of lovely yarn that Someone loved so it is now hers.

On the needles are still Dad's Christmas socks, a sock pattern I am test knitting, and squares for my Barn Raising quilt. I do have several other things on the needles but we won't speak of them now will we? No we won't.

Last weekend I went to the Alpaca Expo at the Equestrian Center here in town. Alpacas from all over the USA were in down being judged. It was more of a breeder thing as almost no one had any fiber for sale but I still scored some very beautiful black Alpaca from Crystal Springs Alpacas. I am going to hide it and wait till I become a wee better spinner before I spin that up. So Soft and lovely.

I have joined the International Scarf Exchange 7. I have done this swap several times now and I enjoy it more each go around.

I have a wonder upstream and down stream partner. The scarf for me is already complete while I flounder around on mine.

I had spun up some wonderfully beautiful yarn, greens and blues that was immediately loved upon by Sugarbee Studios so it is now hers. And I am totally ok with that.

I had to start all over with a new pattern and find new yarns. This is one of the yarns I am using. I am alternating this tropic colored yarns with a solid blue for a chevrony scarf that I need to start working on!

Hello Everyone!

Things in my world have been ho hum. My dad is needing some good thoughts sent his way as he will be going into the hospital for two procedures within the next few weeks. Any sent his way I would love and thank you in advance.

My mom went to the doctor a few weeks back and got an all clear that the Breast Cancer has not returned, so Hooray there!!

In my world I have been battling insomnia which it a total drag because nothing good is on TV at 3:17 am. And I am trying to move forward in my life. Same story, different day, and all that jazz.

The picture for today's post is from my current favorite game for my Wii, Animal Crossing: City Folk. You are a little person who lives in a town with animals and you can decorate your house and go fishing, plant flowers dig up fossils. At nighttime the sky is really pretty so this is my little person, Kimber posing in front of my house with my gold shovel. If you have a Wii I so recommend this game. Plus If your Wii is hooked up to the Internets you can visits friends towns and play with them. I threw down for the Wii speak so I can chat with my friends.

On Woodstock the spinning wheel I have a special order for some Florida Gator Yarn.

On the needles I have two Blanket squares for the Barn Raising Quilt I am working on, and have around 4 socks on the needles.

Snoopy says hi and that he will pose for a new picture soon.

Hello all!

I was thinking we need anotherKnit in public day now that the weather has cooled off. So after talking to fellow Ravelers I have finalized the info.

Day, time and location: Sunday, January 25, 2009, noon till duskish, Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Florida.

Check out this video of the park!

If you google Memorial Park Jacksonville, Florida it will be able to give you directions there.

Memorial Park is along the St. John's River and has stunning views and would be great for pictures of your finished projects!

Knitters, Crocheters, and spinners are welcome. Please tell all your friends. I am hoping to have at least one if not more raffles going on that afternoon. Who knows what could be up for raffles, project bags, needles, maybe a gift certificate for a LYS, fiber, sock yarn, hat patterns, etc.

Concerned are you about food and bathrooms? Right across the street is a Publix, Starbucks, and some food joints. (I planned ahead)

There are some benches, but you will definitely need to bring some extra chairs.

I hope you can make it!

I love Lorna's laces yarn. I horde my skeins of Bullfrogs and Butterflies like a squirrel does his acorns & nuts. I have their sock yarn in tons of colors, but not my most favorite color combination in the world, Orange and Blue.

I was shocked to see someone on Ravelry who had Orange and Blue Lorna's Laces!!! I never knew they had that colorway. I begged the person for two skeins or even just 1 from their stash. No go. She wouldn't give it up. I called the store where she bought it from and they were all out and didn't know when they would get more in.

I asked my most favorite yarn stores, Hanks in Gainesville, Fl to ask around for me, still a no go.

Then I got an email from the Loopy Ewe. They had Team Colors in stock. "Team Colors," I thought I had better check it out.

And there sat the yarn. There was a golden halo around it as it called to me. Then i was signed in buying and paying for it within,oh, 2 nano-seconds. I don't even recall sending the send payment button.

The colors are great but what else can you expect from Lorna's Laces??

I lurve it so.

As some of ya'll know I am a huge fan of Etsy. I really believe in supporting the small indie artist. I has seen this bag on Friday and saved it to my favorites and on Saturday I had to have it before my morning caffeine!

It arrived today ( less then 48 hours later ) and I ripped into the box. The bag is so super cute and way big enough for a sock on the needles and a cake of yarn.

I smelled something lovely as well and there was a Lavender Sachet as a goody!! And a lovely handwritten note.

Here are the posters I made for the Harlot event. My artistic skills are not very good when it comes to drawing/coloring/painting... etc. She made my day when she didn't make fun of that one.

The Welcome Yarn Harlow poster was a boatload of fun. I walked around the room and had tons of people sign it. It was great for me as I am somewhat shy most of the time, but I was definitely not at this event. I met some wonderful new friends.

Last week I had a wonderful opportunity at seeing the Yan Harlot, live in person. She was everything I hoped for and so much more.

I had made posters for the event, Trisha was kind enough to hold up the one that all my old and new fiber friends signed. I held up the poorly colored one. She was very kind and even kept the signed poster.

After meeting her in person and having her sign my book a group of us went out for dinner and had a great time!!

It almost Gator Football Season kids. Now I Know many of my friends, ( Teresa and Jackie ) will root for that other team, the Noles I am a Gator Girl. My gal pal, www.sugarbeestudios.etsy.com dyed up this roving for me earlier this year and it has been patiently waiting for me to be inspired.

Last night I plied it up, completely filling up one bobbin and will have to empty that one today and fill it up again!! The colors are gorgeous and I think this is how I set up my Kate. Like my favorite blogger and the queen of us lowly knitters says, "I do not call it a lazy kate" I can not seem to find any instructions on how to set it up. it seemed to work ok like this last night.

today is never an easy day for me.

I normally take off today to spend it quietly reflecting on life. However I worked a half day today and that seemed to make the day got a little better , perhaps because it wasn't on the fore-front of my mind.

I went to a wedding a two weeks ago, so here is the token awkward wedding photo, my friend Jenn is the blond, I am in the middle O course and the dude is Jenn's bro in law Mike.

It was a great wedding save the fact that I was the only loner girl there. Nothing like a pity dance for the girl without a date.

On to sock news. I have 1 pair completed for the Summer of Socks,. I have four completed single socks, and 4 socks on the needles. There are 5 pairs completed for the 52 Pair plunge.

Snoopy decided to make a nest on my bed yesterday afternoon. Here he is, looking longingly outside the window for a cat.

We did find one too! Snoopy got so excited he was howling which I think was the 3rd time I have ever heard him howl.

I have joined a Summer Knit A long called the, summer of socks. The goal is to knit as many socks as possible from June 21 through September 1, 08.

I love Etsy. I love being able to search for specific items and being able to find them quickly. I like to buy from Indie Dyers there of sock yarn and roving.

I like to randomly search a few times a week for color combinations that I like, add them to my favorites and check to see if they are sold on me.

and now begins my rant.

Dear Etsy Seller,

I will not name your name. I have not bought from you before nor will I be unless you drop your shipping price. I was curious as to why you sell a skein of dyed sock that that is over 430 yards for a measly $10.50. The colors where very beautiful and I had it added to my favorites list quickly.

Then I checked the price of shipping. at $6.50 I was a little flabbergasted. I understand why you priced your yarn so low for you to jack your shipping so high. Will you be giving me a tracking number and have it insured? Will it be encased in a bubble of air from the Arctic? I don't understand how your shipping could be so high. Yes you are in the United States as am I.
Explain yourself.
Or You could simply tack on the price of shipping to your total and be done with it. I wouldn't questions that at all.

I soooo meant, what Yarn from my stash should I use! I have well enough to keep me satisfied for a while.

Now what I also forgot to mention is that if you leave a sock/pattern suggestion you score bonus points. Sometimes people on the out side can visualize a specific yarn in a pattern, if thats you, let me know!

If you are on Ravelry I need help picking out some yarn for my next pair of socks. I can't guarantee who they will be for, but help a gal out eh?

Wednesday night I got home after working and spending some much needed time at my LYS (I did finish a sock wee!)
Anywho I got home to see a package had arrived for me!! All kinds of treats were inside!

a Super Cute Stuffed Monkey, snackies oh Yum!, a Barrel Full of monkey games/candy,a Monkey wallet (which couldnt have come at a better time a need a little wallet for this weekend), monkey tissues, the Red Thread Socks Pattern which I have been coveting for a LONG time, beautiful Sock Yarn and the socks. Monkeys socks in the most awesome blue/ purpley Wollmeise yarn. Which I couldnt stop petting.
They fit perfectly too!!!

It's the eve of my 27th birthday. I sit alone here in my room listening to some podcasts and hoping that Chris Meloni will be shirtless in tongihts episode of OZ. Never seen OZ? It's a great show on HBO that is only in reruns on HBO Zone. and Chris is.. hot.. not as hot as Mike Rowe but still hot.

I was thinking today of Birthdays past. Parties I had at Pizza Hut when I was 8, when I turned 16 and had a horrible sleepover at my house. when I was married and had non exsistant birthdays.. and now.

Always I have had wonderfuls friends to share it with be in person and going bowling, or sharing laughs over the phone hundreds of miles away.

Last year I met new friends at my LYS. Friends that make me laugh, lift me up when times are hard, that invite me over for ymmy guac, teach me new things and are supportive and so valuable to me.

To close up I would like to leave you with a poem by the poet, Willam Stafford.

A few weeks ago some friends and I met up for some fun over at an Alpaca Expo. They were all super nice, letting ups pet then and take thier pictures. The handlers, owners, whatever they call themselves were nice as well, answering all of our questions.

I bought a blanket from a baby alpaca ( which means that they shaved him nekkid) And I started spinning it up last night. I like it a lot.

There is nice and fresh Jitterbug in at KNIT WITZ and I managed to take home two balls of it on Saturday. I casted on for some simple socks, using the pattern on the BallBand.

My dear friend Kathe, wanted to name them Tiger at twilight which is a fantastic name. However Devil Woman was playing on the old iPod Sunday night and thus, that is the new name of the socks. I am at toe stage on sock one. I hope to finish it up this Saturday, cast on for #2, and also pick up some more yarn for a new sweater.

Snoopy wishes everyone a warm Hello!

A few notes:

Mom is recovering quite nicely esp when she is on her pain medicene. I had a wee bit of a nasty cold, and am left with a cough and lots of nose blowing on my end.

As I am getting my strength back I have been spinning up a secret this week. Shhh, Pics to come after the person gets it!

What else? I think that is about it.

oh, one last thing, Let's all remind the Yarn Harlot about how wonderful it is here in sunny and warm Florida! WHo needs her snow when she can be at the beach super fast?

An update

Mom had her lumpectomy today and the results were very good. The surgeon removed one lymphnode that had the cancer in it, and they didnt see cancer in any others!! She is on her way home to recover.

Thanks to all, we are out of the dangerous woods but still have some fighting to go.

the folks bought me half of a spinning wheel for Christmas!! It arrived the 3rd of January at the shop and I was able to pick it up this past Friday. It is a beautiful Majacraft Little Gem, and I love her so.

So I spun this up this evening. I need to spin up another bobbin later this week so I can get help plying this yarn.

I need a name for her ( the wheel not the yarn) ... or it could be a him who knows, any suggestions?

That's right. F*** It. My mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last week. She had an appointment with a surgeon today and had more tests run. She will be having a lumpectomy on Jan 22 and will begin chemo as soon as she is healed from that.

So what I ask from you are three things.

1. If you pray, please do so for her, or send some good mojo her way
2. To join me in October for the Breast Cancer walk.
3. I need a few Chemo caps. in anything but yellow. ( not a good color for her)
